Vote for Compassion!
Fellow Compassion employee Chris brought this to my attention.
Compassion has been nominated for the MySpace Impact Awards, along with Kiva and Mercy Corps. Far be it from me to tell you what to do, but you should go to MySpace and vote for Compassion. Once per day until the 24th of January, 1930’s Chicago Democrat-style1.
Now I know what you’re thinking. And I agree. Since moving on to Facebook, I too feel as though MySpace is the uncle you never visit because his house is a horrifying mess that smells like old cat litter and rotten chicken wings. But your visit is for a good cause. So go there now.
In the spirit of full disclosure, yes, I do work for Compassion, so I’m biased. However, my wife and I also sponsor three children through Compassion, two that we started sponsoring after I started working there. So I’m biased, but not because they pay me to be. I like the other two nominees (We even support Kiva as well). But as Chris said, “$10,000 buys a lot of mosquito nets”

Glad you agree Jeff.
For some reason, my wife is still a staunch supporter of MySpace. She insists that, while the site may not be pretty, it’s easy to use. She thinks Facebook is the opposite.
So I see MySpace as a dirty Uncle, and she sees it as a cat-hoarding Aunt with crazy hair who smells like feet but you still kinda like beause she always has a lot of hard candies in her giant purse.
That would make Facebook the prim and proper Aunt who curses at you like a millworker when your parents are out of the room.
Or something. I’ve taken it too far…
