I agree with your assessment as to the almost spiritual nature of the song. The message of hope and inspiration certainly hits me there.

And I’ll admit that I share your fear as well, but I try not to, even though recent history has pounded that expectation into me.

It’s nice to be inspired by politics instead of being so very angry about it for a change. Though I do fear that Obama won’t win the nomination, or that he will turn out to be just another politician who happens to be able to give a good speech. But that is the cynic in me speaking.

thanks for dropping by. I completely agree. I think it speaks to a sense of unity and common purpose that most of us are desperate for. The line that still gets me every time is

“We are not as divided as our politics suggest.”

I believe that. I truly do. Especially as a Christian… I don’t see how I can’t believe that and have any impact in this world.
