2 Hours in 2 Minutes
Ever wonder what I look like while writing for two hours each morning?
No? Well never-mind that. Check it.
A few days ago, Carlos at Ragamuffin Soul posted a time-lapse video of his work-day. Check it out if you haven’t already. He does some great videos.
After seeing the video, I noticed that Carlos used a program called iStopMotion to create the video. Since that’s a program I also have, there’s no way I wasn’t going to try this out myself.
The concept is pretty simple: iStopMotion uses the built-in iSight camera on my mac to snap a photo every 5 seconds. A 5 frames per second playback, that’s about 2 minutes of video in two hours.
The result was not bad for a first-time video. I need a haircut and a shave, but you can see that for yourself1.
Thanks to Sarah for her brilliant cameo work in the video.
Music in the video was “Let Go” by Edison Glass.
I know I’m only entertaining myself here, but oh well.

You’re lucky I don’t sue you for recording footage of me without my knowledge and posting it online. And only minutes after I forced myself out of bed! Thankfully it’s too quick to see how disheveled I look.
Just kidding, this was actually fun for me to watch, so you’re not only entertaining yourself.

Do I dare admit I watched the whole 2 minutes? Kinda like a cat foolin’ around with a ball of yarn.
Other thoughts I had: Had you brushed your teeth yet? Shifty eyes, you have. UBER-cool, though…and it makes me wonder what I look like!

Sarah, as a settlement, how about I take you to dinner tonight?
Robin, glad you made it to the end.
Responses: No, coffee breath. Yes, they are shifty. And thanks!

This is strangely reminiscent of the “wedding” video of 1990!
Although you were in a tux and just a little bit younger
I have to admit I watched the entire 2 min segment and I’m positive I’ll watch it again!!!

LOL! That’s great, it really does.
And I’ve watched it several times. No shame in repeats views.

Oh! I LOVED this! Coffee drinking, thumbsucking, the occasional ecstatic outburst. Interrupted by love’s entrance. Portrait of a writer, unedited.

I don’t know how cool this would be, but what if you had either an AppleScript or Automator action that took screenshots every x seconds while you were doing the iStopMotion? You could edit in the screen.
that way we can see how much is writing, and how much is …not

LL, Thumbsucking!?! I was biting my nails… same difference, I suppose.
Ken, Funny you should say that. After I posted this, I had that exact same idea… now I have to do it.
Carlos, Thanks! And thanks for the inspiration! I’m hooked now too…
